Story by Jonty
Running started for me during the first COVID-19 lockdown, and it quickly transformed into my whole entire life. My journey began with a charity run that evolved into a challenge to become the first Type 1 diabetic to run across the UK. It wasn’t just a physical challenge; it also sparked something deep within me. Since then, I’ve run marathons, ultras, travelled all over the world and started Runlimited.
What keeps me motivated is the mix of freedom, challenge, and the community that running offers. There’s something beautiful about the simplicity of putting one foot in front of the other, whether it’s a solo run to clear my mind or running with friends. I love how running connects people from different walks of life. It has given me a sense of purpose, especially as a Type 1 diabetic ambassador, encouraging others with similar conditions to realize that anything is possible.
The people I run with are at the heart of my running journey. Co-founding “Runlimited” was driven by the desire to create an inclusive, supportive space for all runners, no matter their experience level. We began with early morning track sessions to foster a sense of safety and community during those dark London winter mornings.
Alongside Molly, we’ve expanded Runlimited into something much bigger—a multi-brand running retailer and a hub that brings together runners, clubs, communities, and brands. A space for inspiration and encouragement whilst offering access to the best brands on the market.
Running with others offers more than just motivation; it creates a unique bond and shared experience that can be even more transformative than a therapy session. The conversations, the mutual support, and the unspoken connection shared during those miles make running a profoundly special journey.
