Story of Gareth
Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right’ – this quote always slaps me back into the right mindset, especially when the going gets tough towards the end of a hard race. It’s amazing what your body can do if you allow your mind to let it.
People say I’m ‘addicted to running,’ but quite frankly, there are a lot worse things to be addicted to!
The best way to approach a big race is to set a goal. From that everything flows. Your training paces. Your race strategy. Your focus.
I like to set several goals for a race so I always have something to aim for because you can’t 100% control what happens on race day.
So for my next marathon at Tokyo, my A Goal is a sub-2:50 finish time. My B Goal is a new PB (sub-2:58:30). And my C Goal is to finish and earn my 5th ️.
So set your race goal and everything will flow from that.
