Mindset Extension

Story by Wally

Running is an extension of my mindset. It’s about discipline and consistency, much like my approach to other areas of life. I believe in playing the long game, and running is a constant reminder of that.

Running is where I can fully be in the moment, finding the rhythm, and absorbing the energy of those around me. Pacing races is especially rewarding—there’s nothing like helping others push past their limits and achieve something they didn’t think possible. I also love making it fun, like running in an inflatable dinosaur or dressing up as Jack Sparrow

The challenge is what makes running rewarding—the sore legs, pushing through the final km in a half marathon, and finding the energy to train on days you feel drained. Those struggles make every breakthrough even more satisfying.

The community is everything. Running solo is great, but running alongside others—whether pacing, racing, or just an easy catch up run with a friend who you haven’t spoken to in months—elevates the experience. Running has introduced me to incredible people, all driven by their own goals but united by the same passion.

Sticking to a rigid training plan with my other personal projects has been tough. But I’ve made it work by turning running into something more than just chasing PBs—it’s become part of my lifestyle, and my way of connecting with people. Whether it’s pacing at races, creating running reels, or setting annual goals, I’ve learned that the key is to make it fun, purposeful, and part of the bigger picture.
